How it Works

1. Artists create stunning digital pieces.

2. Artworks are converted into byte data and stored on floppy disks.

3. Collectors bid on placeholder artworks and receive the physical disks.

4. The byte data is reconstructed, revealing the masterpiece onchain.

Why it_Matters

To Be Revealed celebrates the process of discovery, transforming the act of collecting into an experience of mystery and innovation. It’s a testament to how technology can amplify—not replace—the human connection to art.

How does the placeholder artwork relate to the final piece?

The placeholder artwork has the same title as the final piece, and gives some indication to the colors contained within the piece.

What happens if I lose my floppy disks?

If the floppy disks are lost in shipping, we will do our best to replace them. However, if lost after you receive them, there is less that we can do. We will be able to send over the decryption key at least if the artwork isn’t revealed.

Can the artwork be revealed without the physical disks?

Yes, we will be able to send the decryption key to reveal the artwork if that is truly desired.

How does the reconstruction process work? Is it automated?

We will be providing instructions to the collector on how to reconstruct the art. The process is somewhat manual in order to get all the files from the disks, but we will provide command line instructions to automate the process once all files are copied onto your computer.

How long does it take to reconstruct the artwork and reveal onchain?

You should set aside about an hour to reconstruct the artwork. It is meant to be an immersive experience.

What is the timeline for receiving the floppy disk and revealing the onchain artwork?

We will be gathering shipping information from collectors via XTMP wallet-to-wallet messaging after the auctions are settled. Shipping should happen within a few days of the auctions being settled. Ideally the art is revealed within 1-2 weeks of the auctions.

Will I need specific software or tools to reconstruct the artwork from the floppy disks?

We will send all necessary equipment to read the data from the floppy disks and the reconstruction process uses standard built in command line tools that every computer should have.

Can I resell the placeholder artwork or floppy discs before revealing the final piece?

Sure. You will need to take care of shipping the floppy disks to the new collector.

How will I share my shipping information with the team?

We can confirm your shipping info in a variety of ways but will need to verify that you own the wallet that won the auction. Here are the available methods:
