To Be Revealed, an art project that redefines how we create, collect, and experience art.
At the intersection of nostalgia and innovation, we’ve combined vintage floppy disks with cutting-edge blockchain technology to create a one-of-a-kind journey. Here, every collector becomes a co-creator, uncovering unseen artworks stored on retro media and brought to life onchain.
We believe that art is more than what you see, it’s the journey, the mystery, and the moment of discovery. By fusing analog nostalgia with digital innovation, we aim to spark curiosity and celebrate the power of creativity.
1. Artists create stunning digital pieces.
2. Artworks are converted into byte data and stored on floppy disks.
3. Collectors bid on placeholder artworks and receive the physical disks.
4. The byte data is reconstructed, revealing the masterpiece onchain.
To Be Revealed celebrates the process of discovery, transforming the act of collecting into an experience of mystery and innovation. It’s a testament to how technology can amplify—not replace—the human connection to art.
The placeholder artwork has the same title as the final piece, and gives some indication to the colors contained within the piece.
If the floppy disks are lost in shipping, we will do our best to replace them. However, if lost after you receive them, there is less that we can do. We will be able to send over the decryption key at least if the artwork isn’t revealed.
Yes, we will be able to send the decryption key to reveal the artwork if that is truly desired.
We will be providing instructions to the collector on how to reconstruct the art. The process is somewhat manual in order to get all the files from the disks, but we will provide command line instructions to automate the process once all files are copied onto your computer.
You should set aside about an hour to reconstruct the artwork. It is meant to be an immersive experience.
We will be gathering shipping information from collectors via XTMP wallet-to-wallet messaging after the auctions are settled. Shipping should happen within a few days of the auctions being settled. Ideally the art is revealed within 1-2 weeks of the auctions.
We will send all necessary equipment to read the data from the floppy disks and the reconstruction process uses standard built in command line tools that every computer should have.
Sure. You will need to take care of shipping the floppy disks to the new collector.
We can confirm your shipping info in a variety of ways but will need to verify that you own the wallet that won the auction. Here are the available methods:
Direct messages on X

OR
* You will have to send a 0 ETH transaction to our wallet with a secret key we give you in the data field.

Wallet-to-wallet messaging using XMTP (mobile only)
* Many mobile wallets have this built in now or you can use the Converse mobile app https://converse.xyz

We must take precautions to ensure that the floppy disks are not sent to the wrong person, so that is why these are the only methods available.
